Cricket Carnival 2015 Comes to an End; What’s Next!

March 31
09:14 2015

viratNew Delhi, Tuesday, March 31 – Cricket carnival of 2015 came to an end on Sunday, March 29. Australia thrashed the Black Caps at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, in the grand finale witnessed by record-breaking 93,013 cricket fans live. Massive crowd gathered in the stadium to catch the action, jump in joy after each wicket, boundary or a six and support their squads.

Since it started in the middle of February, hardly there were a few people who believed New Zealand will book a berth in the last round. More surprising was to notice there outstanding performance throughout the tournament. To reach finale being unbeaten in the leagues matches against the Aussies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, Afghanistan and Scotland was never an easy task but they did it and put a new milestone for themselves post beating West Indies in the 4th quarter-final and South Africa in the first semi-final.

The unexpected performance by the Black Caps in this tournament, which lasted for one and a half months, lent a hand to Brendon McCullum’s boys to come near a victory, which would have made them get registered in the record book had the final match was won. New Zealand players showed aggression in their play that helped them stand on the victorious side in all stages excluding the last one. The change in attitude was perhaps due to amazing captaincy by New Zealand skipper McCullum who showed confidence in his team and encouraged his teammates to have faith in their capabilities.

Everything depends on the attitude and this is the reason why South African supporters probably did not have any grudges against the Kiwis post losing in the mega face-off at Eden Park, Auckland on March 24. That game between Kiwis and Proteas will be remembered as one of the excellent matches which had bunch of surprises. It comprised action, drama, emotions and happiness. Even though South Africa were defeated at the end of the day, they were consoled by the rivals – who knew winning and losing are the two sides of a coin in each match. These attributes aren’t seen commonly and here is a perfect example to prove it.

A few young Australian cricketers tried to build unwanted pressure on Indians through sledging. This is not a new habit of the Aussies. The men in yellow shirts did this several years ago as well. And the trend is followed till now. Only faces are new but tradition is old. Australia might be feeling at the top of this world right now after lifting the World Cup trophy but they surely did not win heart of million viewers who know the importance of carrying the right attitude on such a big platform.

Now, as the interesting competition has finished, audience is keen to notice how they are going to be entertained by means of cricket in the coming days. Indian Premier League is all set to come to their rescue. The craze of T20 format is huge and it is enthusiastically watched all across the world. Since it is to kick off April 8, people can’t wait to enjoy the fight between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. The opening match is gonna be an exciting one as the two best teams will fight against each other to earn points and take lead in the points table of 20 over match.

The fun will continue up till May 24 – the day for the finals. Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the other participating squads in IPL. It is understood that ‘soon to be played’ twenty- twenty matches are going to catch the eyes. The chemistry between players hailing from different countries will closely be watched.

Australians who are seen more keen to win the contest by putting mental stress on the opponents and do not hesitate to use wrong words become friends with teammates when come to India. However, this would probably add to the interest. One can’t wait to notice how scenario changes when eminent players come under one roof to win IPL trophy on a decisive day. It is a perfect chance for several newcomers to outshine and create a specific place in the Indian cricket team. Let us wait a little bit more and watch how the show begins after a week. Gear up to witness the battle in three hours time that was introduced to serve humongous fun to cricket lovers.
