Yuvraj Singh – Misses the Bus for 2015 World Cup, Gets a Spot in Delhi Daredevils at Record Price

yuviNew Delhi, Tuesday, February 17 – Cricket is a sport full of uncertainties. The game is never over until the final bowl is delivered or the last wicket is down. The unpredictability doesn’t lie just in the format but also in the decision by the selection committee. The success and failure of a team depends, of course, on the individual performances but more on the combination of all-rounders, batsmen and bowlers.

Yuvraj Singh, who did not get a place in the team that flew to Australia to contest in the cricket carnival, hit a jackpot once more for the reason that at IPL auction held a day ago, Delhi Daredevils bought the destructive hitter a record price of INR. 16 Crore.

Despite being ‘man of the series’ in 2011 World Cup, showing great spirit by bravely fighting with cancer after being diagnosed with the deadly disease and a major source of inspiration to several fans, the selectors nullified his amazing performances from the talented cricketer and gave him no place in India’s list of probables. But it has rightly been said that every talent is sooner or later identified and respected and this theory has been once again proved by Delhi Daredevils, buying the 33-year-old Chandigarh boy by paying a hefty amount.

Here is to mention that Yuvraj has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous season that later on released him post grabbing at second last place in the points table as they pocketed 5 victories and 9 defeats. Even though less was seen from Yuvraj’s talent to bowl in the tournament, he was the second-highest scorer for RCB with 376 runs. His stint comprised three half-centuries as well.

As of now, a big door has been opened for the talented all-rounder by DD and now everything totally depends on Yuvraj how he performs in the upcoming IPL 8, which starts early April and ends late May. Although India logged a thumping victory on the arch-rivals Pakistan in lately concluded One-Day International match at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, on Sunday, February 15, – which will be remembered for generations to come – perhaps every Indian supporter and cricket expert missed Yuvraj on the field. Without a doubt, India performed as a unit. Batting order though collapsed in the death overs but Indian bowlers bowled in discipline and fielders tried their best to stop every single, making the ‘Men in Blue’ continue their winning series against Pakistan in the World Cup fights. Yuvraj was also the one who congratulated Indian camp for defeating the opponents by 76 runs, however, it is true that audience wanted him to be a crucial part of the show.

Now, they have got the chance to see amazing play from him in the Indian Premier League matches and hope this could give a message to the people sitting at the top that experienced players have a lot potential to outperform in bigger tournaments and this was turned true by Suresh Raina, who regained form and did his bit by taking the risk and sending the balls into the fences on more than a few occasions. Yuvi’s fans and some cricket experts took on social media to pass on good wishes to him for getting selected in Delhi Daredevils at such a big price and expect lot more is yet to come from him in 20-20 over format game. Time will let everyone know whether he is at par with hopes or not. It is for sure, Yuvraj is a gifted player and owns a spark that probably none other cricketer has.
