Share Markets Shut on Account of 6th Phase of Lok Sabha Polls in 12 States

sensexMumbai, Thursday, April 24 – Trading took a breather on Thursday on account of 6th phase of Lok Sabha polls, which took place in 12 states, including Maharashtra. Right from early morning, voters started lining up in the queue outside respective polling stations.

Since 117 constituencies witness polls today, together with 19 seats of Maharashtra, share markets were shut today. Mumbai went to poll as well and that is why, the Nifty and the benchmark BSE 30 were closed. The previous day, both Nifty and Sensex logged gains being at record ending peak of 6,840.80 and all-time peak of 22,876.54, respectively.

The 30- share index ascended by 118 points, while Nifty was higher by 25.45 points or 0.37 %. Smooth trading is anticipated tomorrow as dealings will kick off once again post a day off on Thursday. Though there were no trading on the key indexes, but news was good from the gold market as the yellow metal soared another time on constant purchasing.
